Agri-Environment Projects

The staff at Wetland Surveys have extensive experience working in the area of agri-environment and nature conservation in Ireland. This includes experience with EU and government departments running results-based agri-environment schemes and related projects.

To demonstrate our experience in this area a selection of recent projects that we have worked on is presented below.  

  • Project Director on the ACRES West Connacht Co-operation Project, a results-based farm scheme for farmers which aims to achieve improved biodiversity, climate, air and water quality outcomes. Through a hybrid payment model farmers will be rewarded and incentivised to maintain and enhance the environmental condition of their farms. 2023-2027

  • Project Manager on the Pearl Mussel Project, a results based agri environmental farm scheme to protect Freshwater Pearl Mussels in eight river catchment in Ireland. 2018-2022

  • Project Director on the FarmPEAT Project, a results-based farm scheme for farmers who manage lands that surround some of Ireland's finest remaining raised bogs. 2021-2023

  • Senior ecologist in the south-western region for the Coillte Bio Class project. Desktop reviews of sites managed for biodiversity and field surveys to determine biodiversity value and appropriate site management. 2017–2019

  • Monitoring environmental agricultural measures at ten farms included within Glas agri-environmental scheme. 2016-2017

  • Project ecologist on Freshwater Pearl-mussel and forestry EU Life+ restoration project application. 2009
