Map of Irish Wetlands update 2024
Recent updates to the Map of Irish Wetlands have just been published, including results from 2024 wetlands field surveys and mapping undertaken by Wetland Suveys Ireland in Limerick, South Dublin County, Clare, Wexford, Tipperary, Donegal and Leitrim. Survey information will also be published for counties Carlow, Mayo and Cavan in the near future.
This project was developed jointly on a voluntary basis by the Peter Foss (Foss Environmental) and Patrick Crushell (Wetland Surveys Ireland) and is the only centralised map of all wetlands that occur in Ireland. The on-line Map of Irish Wetlands is free public resource, accessible to all.
The main aim of the Map of Irish Wetlands project is to provide the user with information relating to wetland sites across Ireland. The MIW displays information on over 13,600 Irish wetlands.The map can be viewed at either of the following websites: www.WetlandSurveys.ie or www.FossEnvironmental.com or
