There was great excitement today on the 2024 County Mayo Wetlands Field Survey when surveyors Adam Vanmechelen and Joe O’Sullivan were paid a visit by a pair of Red-necked Phalarope (red listed species in Ireland) during a survey of large blanket bog area in SW Mayo. The birds were not shy and came right up to the team on the lake shore while they undertook the wetland survey.
