Exploring Mayo's Wetlands

In 2021, Mayo County Council, in association with Wetland Surveys Ireland, with support from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, are mapping the wetlands of Mayo.

For National Heritage Week 2021, we have developed a Story Map to highlight the wetland heritage of Mayo. The Story Map introduces wetland habitats found in the county and the many species that depend on them. It outlines the myriad of benefits that wetlands provide to all of us, and the threats they face. Some wonderful wetland sites to visit in Mayo are highlighted.
